Located in the White Pine Mining District at 9000 feet, Treasure City was a silver
mining town. Established in 1867 the town had forty-two stores, a Wells Fargo office,
bank, and of course several saloons. It also had a newspaper the White Pine News. After
a fire and the mines played out around 1880, it was pretty much all over with twenty
million in silver being extracted from Treasure Hill. Here is a link to the only known photo
of Treasure City in its prime.
