First located in 1890 and originally known as the Log Cabin Mine, Jim Simpson acquired the
mine in 1910 and it has since been known as the Simpson Mine. Recently the Forest Service
has bought the property. This is an amazing place because the vandals and thieves have not
had a chance to destroy it yet. I don't think this place is well known.I feel fortunate to have
been able to photograph it in its current condition. So come along and take a look.
First look walking down the road
Its a big mill when the headframe gets lost
Still walking down the road more buildings. This is a big place!
Grizzly feeding oar across road into the mill. Everything at this site
is covered and housed do to high elevation and heavy snow.
