The Riverside Telescope Makers Conference is held during Memorial Day
weekend every year at Camp Oaks in the Big Bear Lake area. It's a large gathering
of amateur astronomers with their telescopes. There is also a swap meet Saturday
morning. If you have any interest in astronomy or just curious this is a great place to
escape the crowds on a holiday weekend. You can camp out for the three days
exploring the telescope field and taking in seminars by day and look at the stars at
night. It's a great place for families because the camp has plenty of activities to
keep everyone entertained and let Dad catch up with some sleep from the night
before. Here is a link to the RTMC website.
Here is just a small portion of the upper telescope field.
The next pictures show a little of the lower telescope field.
